This region of the chimpanzee genome represents the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) Class I region containing, amongst others, CLA (HLA), TRIM and MIC family genes. It was sequenced by Anzai et al. (Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 100, 7708-7713 (2003); PubMed ID 12799463) and re-annotated by the HAVANA group.
