Gorilla MHC
A contiguous set of BACs from the CHORI-255 gorilla BAC library were sequenced to finished standards and annotated by the Havana group. The BACs comprise the complete gorilla classical MHC (Major Histocompatibility Complex) region on chromosome 6, including part of the extended MHC. Separately, a small contig of chromosome 19 BACs from the same library were sequenced for the annotation of KIR (Killer Immunoglobulin-like Receptor) genes on chromosome 19. This contig contains the KIR genes, the KIR3DX1 ancestral gene and a large part of the rest of the LRC (Leukocyte Receptor Complex) cluster.
